Current Graduate/Professional Student Resources

Current Graduate & Professional Student Resources

The Office of Minority Affairs offers a number of opportunities for graduate and professional students who are currently matriculating at the University to stay engaged. OMA’s aim is to provide students with a holistic experience from pre-collegiate to graduation.

Minority Grad/Prof Student Orientation and Reception
Returning graduate and professional students in addition to faculty, staff and other OSU community guests are formally welcomed back to campus by our office on the second day of fall quarter classes.

Annual Career & Job Fair
Each January this career and job fair offers over 1,100 students full time, part time, internship and co-op career opportunities to current and former OSU students, as well as those from surrounding institutions of higher education In conjunction with the Fair ongoing career preparation assistance is available through campus career services offices including but not limited to résumé writing and interview coaching.

  • Career & Job Fair Student Association Book Scholarship Fund
Through this Fund, companies and organizations can establish a book scholarship in their name to be awarded to a talented OSU senior, graduate or professional student who contributes to the academic diversity at OSU. Award criteria are determined by the company or organization.

Additional Opportunities for Professional Growth
Two annual events offer graduate and professional students additional opportunities to become involved in meaningful enrichment outside of the classroom: the Faculty/Staff Colloquy in November and the National Conference on Diversity, Race & Learning held in May. Included are distinguished keynoters, a variety of breakout sessions, and grand conversations with more time for attendee participation.

Many events during the academic year allow for graduate and professional students to volunteer in key portions of programming, providing a win-win collaboration: students gaining invaluable experiences and OMA Administration/ Special Programs receiving critical assistance, important and varied expertise.
