Tutoring Services and Study Skills

Tutorial Services & Study Skills Program Purpose

The purpose of the Tutoring Program is to provide minority students at The Ohio State University with supplemental services to enhance and enrich their academic skills.

Tutorial Services
One on one or group tutoring is available for many lower level general education courses every autumn, winter, spring, and summer quarters. All students registered for classes at The Ohio State University at the time of their request may obtain a tutor. Priority assignment is given to students funded by the Office of Minority Affairs.

Tutorial Services Test Bank
Tutorial Services maintains a test bank which includes quizzes, midterms and finals donated to the office by university students. Test bank materials are available for most introductory undergraduate courses and can only be requested online.

Study Skills Program
The study skills component of Tutorial Services offers supplemental study and review sessions, study skills workshops, and individualized study skills assistance.

Supplemental Study and Review Sessions
Students seeking the opportunity to review course material for midterm and final exams in a structured study environment may elect to attend study and review sessions. Sessions are organized by Tutorial Services’ Study Skills Specialist and facilitated by tutors.

Study Skills Workshops and Individualized Assistance
Throughout the academic year students have the opportunity to participate in interactive workshops to enhance study skills and address deficiencies. Quarterly workshops cover various topics including learning styles, time management, note taking, reading skills, and test taking strategies. Students may also meet individually with the Study Skills Specialist who will assess their needs and make recommendations for improvement.
